NVC & Finance

Let's start from the beginning: NVC and Finance

NVC is the abbreviation for Nonviolent Communication. It cultivates the most essential skill for the human species: self-expression. And often there's a chasm between what we need and the message we convey, to ourselves and to the world.

What is NVC? What is it about and what does it have to do with the methodology I developed for managing finances?

NVC is the abbreviation forNonviolent Communication. It cultivates the most essential skill for the human species: self-expression. And often there's a chasm between what we need and the message we convey, to ourselves and to the world. This happens due to flaws in how we express ourselves, due to language patterns we were taught and reproduce. These patterns usually disconnect us, even if we have the best intentions, quite the opposite. NVC reduces this chasm through practical language tools that promoteconnectionhuman in intrapersonal, interpersonal, and social systems. In this textI talk more about NVC and provide tips for extra content.

And money in this story?

There are 3 very important premises about money:

  1. We dedicate a lot of time and energy from our lives tomaking money.

  2. Even the simplest decisions involvespending money: where to go, what to eat, what to wear, etc.

  3. Our decisions are emotional(with rare exceptions)

Everything that's a product now sells the idea of purpose and happiness, but we find ourselvesbroken (emotionally and financially), because no matter what we HAVE, we don't connect with who we ARE, nor with other people.

This dynamic of existence is VERY EXPENSIVE. For our wallets and our health.

Remember that NVC is a connection tool? Through it, I was able to explain my entire process of going from a consumerist debtor to an investor.

Looking at emotions is not a path, it's the only one. You can't talk about a good relationship with money without reclaiming our human nature. Many things have been normalized by society, making it very difficult for our lives to be “abnormal,” or outside the norm.

So my intention here is to talk about money, with emotion, and navigate these two topics with you. I won't bring formulas on how to reach your first million. The internet is full of such content and Brazil's reality isrecord delinquency rates. Let's talk about being human in a world where money permeates our entire existence, and we need it to live.
